TWO DAY TRAINING OF TRAINERS WORKSHOP FOR THE MSW FACULTY OF THE SOUTHERN STATES The Department of Social Work, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and UDIS Forum, Coimbatore jointly organized a “Two Day Training of Trainers Workshop for the MSW Faculty of the Southern States” on July 15 and 16, 2011. The inauguration was held on 15 July 2011 around 10.00 am. Dr. C. Swaminathan, Vice Chancellor, Bharathiar University inaugurated the workshop. Sri T. K. Ponnusamy, Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation delivered the keynote address. Dr. MNG Mani, Managing Trustee, UDIS Forum delivered the special address. In his address he emphasized the role of Social Workers in the Disability Services and also briefed about the services of the UDIS Forum in building bridges between the person with disabilities and the society. Prof. A. Sethuramasubbiah, Head, Department of Social Work, Bharathiar University presided over the function. Renowned Doctors, Eminent Academicians and Professionals from the field of Disability handled various sessions for the two days on different types of disability and the role Social Workers in the welfare of person with disabilities. Also person with disabilities shared their life experiences with the audience. The valedictory function was held on July 16, 2011 at 4.00 pm. Dr. P. Thirumalvalavan, Registrar, Bharathiar University delivered the valedictory address.
